After much research looking for my grandfather T Finnegan (Greaser) I at last found him on crew list for the ss Burutu. Thanks to your website I now have the full picture. Many many thanks
Hi Denise, so glad the blog has been of use to you - I've restored the page link for the Burutu at the top (don't know why it disappeared!) I also have a copy of the maritime deaths index which records your grandfather's death - if you don't have a copy already email me and I'll send it to you. thewarmemorial@gmail.com
hi,william keam is my great grandfather. he was from widnes and have been trying to find why he is mentioned on the toxteth memorial as well as the widnes one, then today read your article in the echo!! i have info about my great grandfather and shall email you later. many thanks Dave
I noticed the fantastic work you've been doing for this project and wondered if you'd come across John Michael Campbell on CWGC site?
I think he may be the 'John Campbell' on the St James's memorial? He lived in Rutter Street, which I think is a short walk from St James's. CWGC record attached in separate email. I've not looked at census or other information, so worth a check if John Michael Campbell is new to your research.
